Last Update: Young Animal Protection Society Inc. is a non profit organization that cares for Homeless and Unwanted Dogs and Cats. Animals come to Yaps from various avenues .. animals found wandering the streets .. often abandoned and abused are picked up by the Cairns City Council Animal Control Officers or the General Public .. in some cases it can be some ones life style or personal circumstances have changed and they can no longer keep their pets .. so they voluntary surrender them in to Y.A.P.S care. The overall goal of the organization is to provide a service aiming at excellence to the Cairns and surrounding district in the area of animal welfare. Yaps is run by a Volunteer Management Committee .. 8 staff members.. including our caretaker Viv who lives on Yaps premises. All dogs beware as I am an attack cat on patrol and all should fear me. Bully is taking over some of the rolls in the office.. you will be welcomed with the biggest lick you have ever had.. meet and greet is his specialilty. Mitchell is our "happy hoser"..and why shouldn't he be as he is the only male working at YAPS with all the "lovely" ladies!!!
